“ The job of SEA is to love and take care of the teachers, the teachers love and take care of the kids and together we work to make their lives easier and better.”
– Chuck Flamini
SEA members,
The education community and the city of Springfield lost a true educational leader this week. Mr. Chuck Flamini was a lifelong, non-stop advocate for public education in Springfield. Mr. Flamini was a teacher, coach, Springfield Education Association President, principal, school board member and Springfield School Board President.
There was never a doubt in anyone’s mind that Chuck was on your side and in your corner. Some of the words used to describe Mr. Flamini were: hardworking, smart, funny, creative, witty, caring, tenacious, energetic, maverick, and relentless. He was one of the original organizers of the Springfield Education Association and served as our SEA President. He paved the way for our teacher union to organize, exist, protest and come to the table for the collective bargaining process.
Mr. Flamini had a passion for education that lasted his entire career. He never forgot who he was, where he came from and the power of public education. He will be greatly missed, always in our hearts and an example for all of us to strive towards.
Sincerely,
Angie Meneghetti
SEA President
