Hello! My name is Buffy Lael-Wolf and I am a candidate for District 186 School Board in Subdistrict 5. I am asking for your vote on April 6th.
During a normal election campaign, I would be knocking on doors to meet as many voters as I can to discuss important issues facing our schools. However, the cold blast and COVID safety precautions are requiring me to contact you in a different way. This way, we all stay safe and warm.
I am a proud District 186 parent and I am excited to serve on the school board. I’m an RN with 30+ years pediatric experience. I’ve spent my entire career advocating for children. I believe my background in children’s advocacy and medicine puts me in a unique position to provide perspectives that our School Board has not had and needs for the future.
My top priorities include:
- Prioritizing health and safety to get kids and teachers back to school responsibly
- Strengthening collaboration with teachers, students and parents
- Enhancing community engagement with our neighborhood schools
- Advocating for special education
I have lived in Springfield for 34 years. I’m married and have an autistic daughter who is in 5th grade, about to transition to middle school. I understand the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process and the needs of special needs families, not only as a parent, but also because of my medical career.
You may vote in person at the Election Office through April 5, Monday-Friday; 8:30am – 5:00pm. The Election Office is located in the County Building, 200 S. Ninth Street, Room 105. (More info on early voting)
